Explaining QR codes

Hello Chocoholics!

We've got some exciting bits and pieces lined up for our Winter 2011 season, including some brand new chocolates (some of which are exclusively designed by Chocolates for Chocoholics). If you've been following us on Facebook, you'll have already seen a few sneak peeks at what's to come!

Our new range, and the catalogue, will be available from the 5th September. When you receive our catalogue, you might notice a funny little box on the back, like the one on the right.

That funny little box is a QR code. It's a bit like a bar code you scan with a special app on your phone, which then takes you to a link, picture, map or various other websites. The one on the back of the catalogue will take you to our website, so you don't have to type in the address. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to visit us! :)

Keep an eye out for a QR code promotion we'll be running during the season too.

There are a number of apps you can download for free to scan QR codes. Check out QR Reader for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, the QR Code Scanner Pro for the Blackberry or QR Droid for Android phones.

Make your own chocolate ice cream

Eating chocolate when it's hot like this can be a bit of a sticky mess. As much as we love melted chocolate (particularly in a fondue), hot weather like this calls for a yummy chocolate ice cream.

We rather like this short video for making your very own chocolate ice cream. It always tastes a little better that way, right?

Wedding Bouquets

Our gardens this year are beginning to get full of a glorious range of flowers that would make great wedding bouquets. They are also encouraging visits for all sorts of wildlife including butterflies, dragonflies and bees.

We decided to use this as a theme for one of our range of wedding favours and we are delighted to present our Butterfly Collection. The decorations on the boxes have a real summer theme to them and many have the butterfly decoration

All our wedding favours are packed to order and we can normally turn your order round very quickly.

We've just had a meeting with some of our Chocoholics Distributors where we launched our new range of wedding favours and table gifts.

As you can see from the image with this post we have tried to put together a range of favours with a common colour theme so that you can dress your tables as attractively as possble.

We can produce the favours in a wide variety of colours and styles and you can view them all by requesting a copy of our new brochure on 01189 321043. The full range will also be available online shortly.

Wedding colour plans: Gold

Gold Wedding

Gold seems to be a popular this year for weddings, particular those earlier and later in the year when the weather is cooler. It's no longer an unfashionable colour, thanks to the increasing popularity of vintage-inspired themes and fashions.

We've put together a mood board of some of our favourite gold table gifts for some inspiration. Feel free to pass it on to any brides to be you might know!

All items can be found on the Celebrations page of our website.

Five Valentine's Day suggestions

It's nearly Valentine's Day, and we've had plenty of orders flooding in for our romantic gifts. After all, what girl doesn't love a box of chocolates on February 14th (actually, what girl doesn't love a box of chocolates ANY day of the year?)

But Valentine's Day isn't just about the gift. Here's five suggestions for how to spend the day.

  • Book the day off and have a day of DVDs and bonding with your loved one.
  • Single? Book the day off with some friends and go for a spa day or hit the shops! We like Wahanda.com for cheap spa days
  • Cook together. It's cheap, easy and seriously romantic. Treat yourself to your best tablewear and tons of candles.
  • Go on an adventure. Whether it's with your loved one or your best friends, ditch the sat nav and go hunting for adventure.
  • Give relationship vouchers. Create your own vouchers that offer to give a free kiss, hug or to do the washing up for a week!

What does Valentine's Day mean to you? How will you be celebrating?

p.s You've got until Wednesday this week to order your Valentine's gift!
